What your day looks like
Halemahina, “Hous of the Moon,” is one of Maui’s two dormant volcanoes. Circumnavigate her majesty in a 7-8 hour excursion. Visit the Hawai’i of old, Kahakuloa, an isolated Hawaiian village. View rugged coastlines, a secluded waterfall and a geyser that blows 100ft in the air. Drive deep into the volcano’s sunken caldera filled with tropical flowers, guava fruit and native fauna. View the ‘Iao needle, a 1,200ft stone pillar once used as a watchtower in time of war. Touch the healing waters of our island’s largest stream. What to Bring
Wear comfortable clothing and a pair of walking shoes, sneakers or Teva-style sandals. If you wish to swim, then wear your bathing suit beneath your clothes and pack a towel. Bring a light cover-up as it is possible to encounter a passing shower or two. We encourage the use of refillable containers. If you are traveling with a hydro flask, please bring it. We will have a jug for refills. Lunch, & local treats are available for purchase at the food trucks & farm stands along the way. Important! Commercial sunscreens which include Oxybenzone and Octinoxate are polluting our streams and ocean water. These chemicals attribute to the killing off of our coral reefs and marine life. Please do not use them! We have joined the mission to deliver the safest, most effective sunscreen available. Raw Elements is a broad-spectrum, SPF 30+, water-resistant, safe for all ages brand of sunscreen made with high-quality ingredients and zinc oxide (20%) as the active ingredient. We will have this available for use instead.
