What your day looks like

Experience the road less traveled. Traverse through the verdant countryside, jagged lava fields, and expansive pasture. Then arrive at Haleakala National Park & The Pools of ‘Oheo. Here we embark on a 4-mile hike through the famed Bamboo Forest. Marvel at a 200 foot and 400-foot waterfall and surround yourself by the towering thickets. Along the way, we learn about indigenous plants and non-native species. Witness the crashing waves and mouth of the river before departing on the Road to Hāna. Taste seasonal exotic fruit & vegan coconut ice cream. Swim at Pailoa Bay Black Sand Beach then sit back, relax and enjoy the dramatic and scenic coastal drive featuring many more waterfalls, cliffs, bluffs & bays.

What to Bring

Wear comfortable clothing and a pair of walking shoes, sneakers or Teva style sandals. If you wish to swim, then put your bathing suit on beneath your clothes and pack a towel. Water shoes are nice to have, but arenʻt necessary. It is also good to bring a pair of slippers (flip flops) for the beach and extra clothes to change into after the last swim stop. Pack a light cover-up or rain jacket as it is possible to encounter a passing shower or two. We encourage the use of refillable containers. If you are traveling with a hydro flask, please bring it. We will have a jug for refills. Lunch & local treats are available for purchase at the food trucks & farm stands along the way. Make sure to have cash as there is no reception for debit/credit cards in the forest. Important! Commercial sunscreens which include Oxybenzone and Octinoxate are polluting our streams and ocean water. These chemicals attribute to the killing off of our coral reefs and marine life. Please do not use them! We have joined the mission to deliver the safest, most effective sunscreen available. Raw Elements is a broad spectrum, SPF 30+, water-resistant, safe for all ages brand of sunscreen made with high quality ingredients and zinc oxide (20%) as the active ingredient. We will have this available for use instead. There are many places along the way to enjoy local food – fresh fish, kalua pork, vegetarian options. Food trucks and farms stands abound. Please have guests bring cash for additional purchases.
