Dalmatian cuisine is an important part of local tradition. People on the island of Hvar have been growing vineyards and olives for centuries, and Hvar is known as the Lavender Island. When you arrive on Hvar, you are greeted with a rhapsody of flavors no one can resist. We have combined all the island’s traditional flavors into one day. Try homemade olive oil, honey, wine, and chocolate paired with fresh ingredients and Mediterranean fruits and herbs such as lavender and sage. Your day will take you to a number of fascinating spots where you will learn about natural production on Hvar, famous for its lavender, wine, olives, and more. Did you know that rosemary honey was recently ranked among the top four in the world? The tour begins with a drive through the green landscapes of Hvar, stopping in the village of Brusje, where you will taste homemade honey and smell lavender and rosemary. We continue along the old road through the UNESCO-protected vineyards to an olive oil mill in the village of Svirće. Here, you will try 3–4 different kinds of extra virgin olive oil. The producer is a gold-award winner at the world’s largest and most prestigious annual olive oil competition in New York, held each spring. In the wine cellar, you will have the opportunity to taste four different wines with a dedicated wine guide, who will describe each wine and provide all the information you need, accompanied by the island’s finest local appetizers. And finally—the sweetest part. What’s better than chocolate? Try unique Mediterranean dark and white chocolates made with local herbs and fruits.
