Hvar Island Tour with Wine and Lunch

Tour begins with a drive through the green and very lush inland of Hvar. Passing through Brusje, famous for its lavender, we continue to the fascinating town of Stari Grad, once known as Pharia and Pharos, the island’s former capital. Continue through the stone streets and visit the fortress “Tvrdalj,” which once belonged to the poet Petar Hektorović. He is known for his work Fishing and Talking with Fishermen, the first realistic poem in Croatian literature. Hektorović dedicated his life to his beloved fortress, still home to its original fish pond. He often wrote: “I must go back there, for it is calling me home.” We then continue through the well-known UNESCO-protected vineyards to the small, charming town of Vrboska, also called “Little Venice.” This town on Hvar earned its name from the many small stone bridges that cross its narrow winding canal, as well as the unique St. Mary of Mercy fortress-church. It is a hidden gem, far from the tourist masses, where you can truly feel the spirit of tradition. As we head back, we will enjoy the charming villages of Vrisnik, Svirče, and Vrbanj before arriving for an authentic Dalmatian lunch or dinner in one of the villages.
