Day 1
Beijing
Transportation. Welcome to this trip :) Meet our driver at your Beijing city hotel lobby for your transfer to Beijing Railway Station, and enjoy a 2-hour bullet train ride to Datong on your own. Your Datong local tour guide will greet you upon arrival, then head directly to the Hanging Temple (1.5 hours drive).

Local Flavor at Hanging Temple. Hanging Temple: The hanging temple is the only existing temple hosting worship for the Taoists, Confucians, and Buddhists. Built in 491A.D.D, the Hanging Temple is an architectural wonder because it hangs on the west cliff of Jinxia Gorge more than 50 meters above the ground.

Sightseeing at Yungang Grottoes. Yungang Grottoes: After lunch in the local restaurant, explore the Yungang Grottoes. Follow your tour guide to explore the grottoes and niches, and get to know its history and culture. With their 252 caves and 51,000 statues, the Yungang Grottoes art represents the successful fusion of Buddhist religious symbolic art from South and Central Asia with Chinese cultural traditions, starting in the 5th century CE under Imperial auspices. After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Datong.

Day 2

Train Ride: Your driver will pick you up in your hotel lobby, then you will be transferred to Datong Railway Station. Enjoy a 3.5-hour bullet train ride on your own, and once you arrive in Pingyao, your tour guide will greet you and you will be transferred to your hotel in Pingyao. (Please manage your lunch).

Local Flavor. Pingyao County Government Museum: In the afternoon, follow your tour guide to do a walking tour of Pinayao Old City. Founded during the Western Zhou Dynasty (1046 – 771 BC) and rebuilt in 1370, the Pingyao old city is listed as a UNESCO site. Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of old times lifestyle and appreciate the charms of old China. Feel free to discuss with your tour guide where you want to go in the old city. After dinner in the local restaurant, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Pingyao.

Day 3

Local Flavor at Shuanglin Temple. Shuanglin Temple: Start early in the morning, after meeting your tour guide head directly to the famous Shuanglin Temple in Pingyao. Follow your tour guide to explore the site which is considered “the Oriental Treasure House of Painted Sculptures” and “A Museum of Ancient Statues”, where over 2,000 exquisite ancient painted sculptures and lots of beautifully preserved frescoes from Yuan to Ming Dynasty (13th -17th century) are kept. These masterpieces of art and the entire architectural complex are ancient cultural splendors.

Day 4
Xi'an
Local Flavor at Terracotta Army. Terracotta Warriors Museum: Your tour guide will pick you up in your hotel lobby and head directly to the world-famous Terracotta Warriors museum which is known as “the Eighth Wonders of the World”. The original site was found by four local farmers while drilling a well in 1974 and now it has turned into the most important attraction in Xi'an. Stroll around the museum and get rich information from your tour guide.

Sightseeing at Giant Wild Goose Pagoda. Giant Wild Goose Pagoda: Enjoy a delicious lunch in a local restaurant, then in the afternoon explore the Big Wild Goose Pagoda which was originally built in 652 with the function of collecting Buddhist materials that were taken from India by the hierarch Xuanzang. Stroll around the courtyard and halls, gain deep insight into its rich history, and learn the stories about Xuanzang.
