What your day looks like
You can join the exploration of an ancient archaeological site combined with the calm relaxing drift of cave tubing in caves filled with ancient Mayan secrets. This package is excellent for kids of all ages and adults to learn and explore more of what Belize has to offer. Xunantunich (pronounced /Shunantunich/) is an Ancient Mayan archaeological site in western, about 80 miles (130 km) west of Belize City, in the Cayo District. Xunantunich is located atop a ridge above the Mopan River, well within sight of the Guatemala border – which is a mere 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) to the west. It served as a Maya civic ceremonial center in the Late and Terminal Classic periods to the Belize Valley region. At its peak, nearly 200,000 people lived in Belize. Xunantunich’s name means "Stone Woman" in the Maya language. The "Stone Woman" refers to the ghost of a woman claimed by several people to inhabit the site, beginning in 1892. She is dressed completely in white and has fire-red glowing eyes. She generally appears in front of "El Castillo", ascends the stone stairs, and disappears into a stone wall.

What travelers are saying
It was a lot of travel time but well worth it. Seeing the ruins at Xunantunich and getting to climb them was great. The view from the top was amazing. Having done a lot of river tubing and kayaking in Michigan, going cave tubing took that to the next level. Throughout the day our guide did a great job and provided a lot of history and information about the country. He also got us some great local food for lunch.
Great trip. Our family had a wonderful day! Great guide too!
This was a fabulous trip! The guide was very knowledgeble and professional. He knew much about the Mayan history as well as information about the cave as we tubed through it. Fantastic time! Be prepared for a lot of driving and an awesome lunch! Highly recommend!
This experience was absolutely amazing. My husband and I did this and regret nothing about it. From the moment John picked us up from the dock until Saied (?) dropped us back off at the end of the day, the entire day was an experience we will always remember. Saied was extremely knowledgeable about everything and very patient with us and all of our questions. If you are even slightly thinking about doing this, don't wait! Our only regret is feeling like we didn't tip enough to our guide. If you think you are tipping too much, tip more, because they deserve every penny!! Thank you again, Saied, you were truly the absolute best!!! Thank you for being one of the best parts of our trip.
The whole experience with Project Expedition and Amigo Jungle Tours was awesome. I loved that we could price compare and book and pay online. Our confirmation came quickly via email. The tour guide was the best and it turned out to be one of the greatest days of travel we ever had. Melvin and Eric were perfect tour guides, knowledgeable, fun, friendly and they made our last day in Belize the best day we had. I highly recommend using Project Expedition and Amigo Jungle Tours again.
