The Experience

What your day looks like

Come and join your guide on a full trek around the base of Uluru and explore one of Australia’s most profound and culturally significant monoliths. Your guide will meet you approximately one hour before sunrise at the entrance to your accommodation at Ayers Rock Resort, ready to begin your journey into Uluru–Kata Tjuta National Park. After arriving at the base of Uluru, you’ll begin your sunrise trek along the 12-kilometre base trail and embrace the culture, geology, and environment that define this remarkable site. Along the trail, you will witness the sunrise, visit waterholes, view rock art created by the ancients, and learn about Uluru’s deep cultural significance to the Anangu (local Aboriginal) people. Take time to enjoy your picnic outback breakfast as you listen to the desert sounds that surround you. As you continue around the base, your guide will share several stories connected to prominent Tjukurpa (Creation stories). From the Tjukurpa of Liru (venomous snake) and Kuniya (woma python) along the Kuniya Walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole, to the story of the Mala people along the Mala Walk to Kantju Gorge, this full base walk offers a rare opportunity to truly immerse yourself in the culture and history of this extraordinary place. After completing the loop and returning to your starting point, your guide will transfer you back to your accommodation at Ayers Rock Resort.
