Escondido and Fagnano Lakes Experience

The journey, in full

The trip starts when we pick up the passengers at their hotel around 9:00 am. All on board, we take the National Route 3 heading north. Going away from the Beagle Channel, Olivia and Cinco Hermanos mountains can be spotted in the horizon, as well as the Carbajal Valley where the economic exploitation of peat takes place. The road takes us towards Tierra Mayor Valley; from there we can see the Cerros Bonete, Alvear, and some cirque glaciers. Then we go through Cerro Castor ski center, in winter thousands of tourists and local people practice their favorite winter sports: cross-country or alpine ski, snowboard, dog-sled racing, etc. We continue along the road until we reach the Garibaldi Pass, 450 meters above sea-level, where people can admire the breath-taking panoramic view of Escondido and Fagnano Lakes. From Garibaldi Pass you will admire the breathtaking panoramic view of Lago Escondido After that we head to the Bronsovich sawmill and then to Fagnano Lake, here passengers can go down to take a closer look and enjoy its beauty. Fagnano Lake is more than 100 kilometers long, is considered one of the biggest lakes in South America. Before going back to Ushuaia there is a stop at one of the winter sports resorts to try the delicious Fuegian lamb. When lunch finishes we return to Ushuaia
