Your tour will include: Homes Savannah Squares - enjoy a stroll through a sampling of the 22 historic squares where you will see lovely homes, beautiful churches, charming inns, and museums amidst the shade of live oak trees and intimate green space. Victorian District - experience late Victorian and Queen Anne architecture in this lovely historic district Bluff Drive - explore a hidden scenic residential area on the Isle of Hope where stately southern mansions overlook the marshes. Churches The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist - an impressive 19th century Roman Catholic cathedral & seat of the Bishop of Savannah. Christ Church - established in 1733 with the founding of the colony of Georgia, this church is known as “The Mother Church of Georgia.” Wesley Monumental Church - a 19th century Methodist church dedicated as a monument to John and Charles Wesley. Plantations: Wormsloe Historic Site - this former plantation was once the colonial estate of Noble Jones, a carpenter who came to Savannah in 1733 with James Oglethorpe. This estate remained family-owned until it was purchased by the state for use as a historic site in 1973. Bonaventure Cemetery - located on the site of a former plantation, the cemetery was featured in the novel and film Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. The Islands: Visit Fort Pulaski - Located on Cockspur Island, Fort Pulaski is one of the best-preserved forts from the Civil War. Learn about the Siege of Fort Pulaski in 1862 and the Union military technology that forced the Confederate surrender and closed the port of Savannah. Tour Tybee Island - Tybee Island has been of strategic importance to Georgia since the early 18th century, which made the Island’s northern tip an ideal location for a lighthouse. The lighthouse was first built in 1736 and was the tallest structure (90 feet) in America at the time. After touring the lighthouse and historic support buildings, we will head to the Tybee Pier and Pavilion to experience the resort feel of this charming island.
