Detailed Itinerary

The journey, in full

Step into the wilds of Southeast Alaska for an astonishing Waterfall Creek bear viewing adventure. After arrival at our office you will get outfitted in rain gear and wildlife viewing gear for the day. Then a quick safety briefing from our expert local guide. Our exploration begins with a floatplane transporting you on a breathtaking 30 min scenic flight from our base in Juneau, providing unique access to brown bear habitat. Escorted by our experienced bear guide with more than a decade of time at this exact location, you’ll step off the plane and into an unforgettable adventure. As we hike along a beach leading to an active Salmon stream our guide will share his/her knowledge of brown bears, the wildlife, and the fascinating natural history of Chichigof Island. Photographers and nature enthusiasts will marvel at this opportunity to discover the unexpected once-in-a-lifetime bear viewing experience that allows a rare look into the world of the grand and majestic animals of the great Alaskan wilderness. During most of the excursion, the group will remain seated, quiet, and still, creating an environment in which the bears can carry on with their natural behaviors, ideally ignoring our presence. After several hours of watching bears fish beneath the waterfall we will hike back to the landing beach and catch another scenic floatplane ride back to Juneau. Bear sightings are not guaranteed, but because we only run these trips when the salmon are coming into the creek to spawn Waterfall Creek is rarely a miss. Pick up and drop offs available from any cruise ship dock or local accommodation.
