Once in a lifetime, Alaskan adventures take place at the Pack Creek Brown Bear Sanctuary! Experience the world-renowned site located 30 air miles outside of Juneau, on Admiralty Island National Monument. After arrival at our office you will get outfitted in rain gear and wildlife viewing gear for the day. Then a quick safety briefing from our expert local guide. Next, enjoy a sightseeing floatplane ride to Pack Creek (Stan Price Bear Preserve). The native Tlingit people call this impressive island “Kootznoowoo,” meaning “Fortress of the Bear.” Indeed, Admiralty Island is home to the highest concentration of brown bears in the world. Nearly 100 miles long, with 700 miles of saltwater shoreline that encompass its roughly 1 million acres, this verdant gem of old-growth rainforest graces the northern part of the Southeast Alaskan panhandle’s Inside Passage. Once we have landed and made our way to the shore, our guide will introduce you to this amazing Kootznoowoo Wilderness location. Brown bears may be seen at any moment while you're ashore. Our knowledgeable bear guide will help you pick the best viewing points for the next few hours. During most of the excursion, the groups will remain seated, quiet, and still, creating an environment in which the bears can carry on with their natural behaviors, ideally ignoring our presence. After several hours we will make our way back to the drop off beach to catch another scenic flight back to Juneau. While we cannot guarantee wildlife sightings the dates and timing of our trips to Pack Creek rarely miss. The brown bears are most active in the spring from early May to mid June, and then again during the annual salmon runs from Mid July to Mid September.
