Private Farmers Market Tour & Cooking Class in Long Beach
What your day looks like
Host Bio: BA is a public health professional, whose career is focused on translating health information into messages that people can understand, to help them make healthier choices. Her cooking is also about creating healthier choices that are delicious and unique. BA is a passionate home cook and baker, who loves trying new and healthy recipes. She is well-traveled and has lived in a few cities, so she loves mixing international flavors with local, seasonal produce. Also, accommodating dietary needs is her specialty! As she is lactose-free, her son is vegetarian, and many of her friends are gluten-free. So, over the years, she has perfected many of her own, unique recipes to satisfy so many different palates. Apart from cooking and feeding friends and family, BA is an avid cyclist and loves to be active, doing just about anything she can do outside in any season. When we asked BA why she would like to be a host, this is what she had to say – “I believe you put your love in the food to bring joy to all you share it with.”

The journey, in full
Meal Description: BA grew up in a household that never ate the same meal twice – her mom is a very creative cook who instilled the belief that you could make anything taste good with a little experimenting. Her cooking is inspired by local ingredients – which are plentiful in Southern California and international flavors from the many places she has lived in and traveled to. She tries to use fresh and local food – often from her own yard – as much as possible. Your menu will depend on the produce that you pick up at the Farmer's Market. A seasonal, fresh, healthy, and delicious meal. There will be dips, salads, a main course and dessert. Cooking Description: You will cook a meal using the ingredients you bought at the Farmer's Market. Join BA in her home kitchen for a 2-hour hands-on cooking class. Learn to make a dip, a main course, salad, homemade bread, and dessert. After you cook, join BA and her sons (if they are home) at the dining table to relish the meal you helped prepare. Market Tour Description: Either walk or take a bike ride to the local Farmer’s Market in Long Beach with BA. This is a great place to browse, sample, and buy fresh produce. The market tour will last about an hour, after which you will go to BA's home for your cooking and meal experience.
