Misty Fjords Expedition
What your day looks like
Begin your 4.5 hours Misty Fjords Expedition from Ketchikan’s oceanfront onboard our six-passenger 30-foot Aluminum chamber boat. What makes the Misty Fjords Expedition stand out from others is that we are a totally customized charter. If you decide you would like to stop and enjoy certain areas of the Misty Fjords for longer periods than others, we can make it happen. You’ll have to keep a sharp eye as you will be on the look out for Bald Eagles, Black and Brown bears, many different types of Whales and other Marine wildlife, and New Eddystone Rock; an immense volcanic spire rising from the emerald sea. Capture the beauty whilst exploring Rudyerd Bay and learn the natural history of the fjords while gliding quietly near 3,000-foot vertical cliffs and breathtaking waterfalls. Misty Fiords National Monument is a national monument and wilderness area administered by the U.S. Forest Service as part of the Tongass National Forest. Misty Fjords is about 40 miles east of Ketchikan, Alaska, along the Inside Passage coast in extreme southeastern Alaska, comprising 3 million acres of Tongass National Forest in Alaska's Panhandle.

What travelers are saying
This is a must if you go to Alaska. The boat was wonderful and the crew was so helpful. They did everything to make you enjoy this experience. The boat was a medium side with lots of room for everyone to get around. The lunch they served was very good. The caption got a close to the glaciers as she could and slowed at all the interesting points for us to see. The boat was a really smooth ride also which is a nice feature when you on on the water so long.
The Fjord was beautiful but the ride out and back is very long and in a very small boat. I think a bigger boat with a smoother ride would have been helpful. A better description of the ride would be a good idea to add to your description as that was not expected. We had a first time captain which was very nice but didn't really know much about the area, history, etc. Would have been nice to have a more knowledgable captain instead of a first-timer.
Great excursion, beautiful land- and sea-scapes, as well as some wild life. Loved the small group tour and the captain handled the boat expertly through some choppy water. Would've appreciated a little more of an introduction of the tour and what to expect at the beginning, as well as information on the area during the tour. Thanks!
Great excursion. Our boat Captain Chris was excellent. Very friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the scenery, the boat and the time together.
The rain added drama and enhanced the mystical feel—totally worth it. Private boat meant we set the pace and lingered where we wanted. Heated cabin offered warmth and shelter between viewing sessions. Next Time: A Sunny Day Adventure ☀️ We can’t wait to return—on a sunny day. Picture those cliffs illuminated in bright light, waterfalls shimmering in the sun, and glacier-blue water glowing. Final Word If you find yourself in Ketchikan, don’t shy away from a Misty Fjords charter. The ambiance is unforgettable. Rating: 5 / 5 ???? ✨ Atmosphere: Enchanting in mist ✨ Guides & boat: Intimate, flexible, and informative ✨ Next visit: Already planning for clear skies and sunshine Hope this helps others see why even a wet day here can still leave you spellbound—while reminding us that brightness awaits on our next return.
Jon was a fabulous captain. The Fjords are beautiful. This excursion was well worth it.
Really beautiful trip gorgeous scenery. The trip to and from the ship was long but we saw whales along the way. It was a fun day boating.
Excellent excursion! The tour guide took us close to experience the falls. We saw eagles and sea otters up close. We even saw a whale. The views inside the rainforest is indescribable and a once in a lifetime experience.
