Embark on an unforgettable helicopter tour of Hawaii’s Big Island, soaring over the erupting Kilauea Volcano and experiencing the raw power of one of the world’s most active volcanoes. Formed 300,000 to 600,000 years ago as the Pacific tectonic plate moved over the Hawaiian hot spot, Kilauea is the youngest of the island’s five volcanoes. From 4,091 feet above sea level, you’ll gaze down on lush forests surrounding the volcano, their vibrant greens contrasting with the stark black lava fields. As you fly above rivers of molten lava meeting the ocean in a spectacular display of steam and fire, you’ll feel the Earth’s dynamic energy in every moment. With over 30 eruptions in the past six decades, Kilauea is constantly reshaping the landscape, and as you take in the sights, you’ll sense the presence of Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of fire and volcanoes. Detailed Itinerary
The journey, in full
The flight begins over sparkling Kailua Bay, known for its crystal clear waters and vibrant reefs. Climbing out of the bay, witness Pele’s tremendous power in the form of the world’s largest active volcano, Mauna Loa, the “Long Mountain.” The flight continues to the remarkable features of the Ka’upulehu Crater and the famous Hualalai volcano. Off in the distance, the summit of Mauna Kea, the “White Mountain,” towers 13,796 feet above sea level. Mauna Kea’s older brother, Kohala, is to the north, and out of its stark landscape emerges the Puu Waawaa Forest Reserve, home to native plants and animals found nowhere else in the world. Passing over the forest reveals the breathtaking Kawaihae and Kohala Coasts, childhood home of King Kamehameha. The flight is an unforgettable journey through Pele’s garden of fire and the incredible landscape that was home to Hawai’i’s greatest warrior king.

What to Bring
For guests joining a doors-off tour, a jacket, closed-toed shoes, and a hair tie for long hair are required for safety and comfort. If you plan to bring a camera, please ensure it has a strap, as all loose items must be secured or stored away during the flight.
Restrictions
Cameras must have a strap. Lanyards will be provided for phones. For each guest weighing 250 pounds or more, a weight and balance fee is required to safely balance the aircraft. For guests weighing between 250 –274 lbs, a fee in the amount of 50% of the seat price will be assessed after booking. For guests weighing 275 lbs or higher, an additional seat purchase will be assessed after booking.
