The Experience

What your day looks like

The Roaring Fork might be one of our favorite tours. Waterfalls, wildlife, pristine views, and stoic cabins… it truly has it all. You'll pass through historic Gatlinburg before entering the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The slow meander alongside LeConte Creek is a sheer delight. The old-growth forest arches overhead, giving way to pockets of pioneer homesteads. Your expert local guide will tell you the stories behind the stories, of family feuds and true grit. You might spot a black bear or two ambling up a tree if you're lucky. It's an adventure for all ages! Once you get back to town, enjoy a 15-minute 4x4 ride on a forested four-wheel drive adventure on private land.

The Great Smoky Mountains are beautiful, and this is a very good way to have someone else do the driving. We were there in July, and it was over 100 degrees, so the conditions became uncomfortable. Weather aside, we did enjoy the tour and learned a lot, especially about bears. It is a long tour, lots of traffic getting from the Pink Jeep storefront to the actual park. We also got off to a late start - not sure why since we were there early to sign waivers. We were the last tour to leave, but the first ones to arrive for the 1 p.m. slot. Ending adventure off road was a lot after being so hot all day... didn't love that part, but I could see if being fun for teens or if the weather had been better. They are not joking around that if you have neck, back, or other physical issues that you should not take the tour. We really just wanted to get back by this point. Bring snack and water!! Pink Jeep storefront was immaculate.
