Bering Sea Crab Fishermen's Tour
What your day looks like
Thirty minutes before your tour departure time our crew will greet you on the Main Cruise Ships Dock and direct you the short walking distance to the Aleutian Ballad located at the Berth 3 – Tender Float. Come aboard and seat yourself under the heated and sheltered amphitheater or on the panoramic upper deck. When everyone is aboard and comfortable, the crew will “cut loose” and head out to the pristine fishing grounds. You will be introduced to the entire crew, some of whom you may have seen on television. On our way to the fishing grounds, you will be familiarized with the boat you’re on and her colorful history as a working crab fishing boat in the notorious Bering Sea. You will be acquainted with the history of Alaska’s fisheries as well as the type of fishing vessels and gear you are likely to encounter during your cruise through Alaskan waters. During this ride out, you will get very close to islands and land where you may see Alaskan wildlife such as bears, deer, bald eagles, seals, and much more. While we can never promise wildlife will be in sight, we keep a close eye with binoculars and always make every best effort to let guests know if wildlife is in view. As the F/V Aleutian Ballad pulls up on the first set of fishing gear, you will be right alongside watching as the crew begins to haul up the catch. Some animals brought to the surface will be placed in a live tank for everyone to see. Be prepared with your cameras to capture these moments when you can touch the mysterious animals before they are gently released back into the sea. We will continue on towards the protected waters of Annette Island where will ease in close to shore where eagles nest. Further up the inlet, you’ll witness the huge crab pots being hauled aboard and you’ll be able to touch these giant crustaceans. We may even pull up an octopus pot!

A day I will never forget...loved the all the stories and lessons learned. Y'all made it entertaining and informative. I wish known about the slow motion camera thing gor eagles ahead of time to practice first..the footage I tried to shoot didn't come out.. But I still got some ok pictures of the eagles..they move so fast.
Very informative & interactive; great time!
It was great, I loved seeing all the Eagles flying from all over to be fed. Listening to the gentlemen about their fishing was very enlightening. We were proud that we could donate to the Widowers Fund too.
Great Excursion! My husband considered this excursion the highlight of the cruise!
