Begin your tour with an action-packed performance at the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show, where these world champion athletes, wearing spiked boots and hard hats, compete in 12 athletic events that utilize seven-pound axes, six-foot razor-sharp saws, tree climbing gaffs, and souped-up chainsaws. Join us in Saxman Native Village for a culinary experience to learn all about Alaskan ingredients and their uses in a modern cooking environment. The culinary tasting will offer a unique setting to enhance your culinary knowledge and expand your palate with true Alaskan ingredients. The culinary demonstration is complemented by a cultural showcase of Alaska Native art, featuring a variety of priceless and historical pieces from the Cape Fox Corporation Native Art Collection.

What to Bring
What to Bring: Dress warmly and appropriate for the weather. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Good to Know: The sequence of tour elements may vary by tour. Cameras are allowed. Seating at the lumberjack Show is fully covered and heated. Infants ages 2 and under are welcome to join free of charge
Restrictions
Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Tour is accessible for guests in wheelchairs, scooters and walkers who can transfer 2-3 steps. If ADA vehicle with a ramp/lift is needed, it must be reserved at the time of booking.
Meeting & Pickup
- Ward Cove Cruise Terminal Guests: Walk to the end of the terminal building and look for a Dock Rep holding a sign with the tour name on it. - Guests Staying Downtown: Gather by the statue outside of the Ketchikan Visitors Center building. Lumberjack show was fun although kind of cheesy. The culinary experience was under whelming - a few hors d’oeuvre type offerings, some sips of locally produced beverages, but not really a meal. The chowder was tasty though. On balance I cannot recommend the culinary experience.

Book the Lumberjack Show separately - The rest of this tour was a joke. Please don't waste your good money. The food is not as pictured. It is a total sham. The culture portion needs a tremendous amount of work. The people running this have no idea what they are doing. If you have ever been on an excursion anywhere else and had a great time, just know that you will not get the same experience with this tour. This needs to be removed. Some of the other tour guides tried to, in around about way, talk us out of this tour without telling us directly to get our money back but we just weren't aware enough to realize it. Hindsight is 20/20 and Project Expedition needs to remove this tour from their line up for this city.
