Docking at the port of Bozcaada, you will be greeted by your private local guide who will welcome you holding a sign with the name of your party at the pier. Bozcaada (Tenedos) which is one of the two isles on the Aegean that belong to Turkey. This small island has been famous for its grapes, wines and red poppies for centuries. As you approach the island by cruise ship, the first site to attract your attention will be the imposing, majestic castle of the island. You will start your exploration with Bozcaada Castle. The grandeur of the castle reflects the rich past of the island. Bozcaada Castle is one of the best-preserved castles of Turkey; however, there is no information about who has built it for the first time and when. The form of the existing castle dates back to Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror’s time when it was rebuilt on the ruins of that castle used by the Phoenicians, Genovese, and the Venetians (1455). After the Castle, you will drive through the vineyards and reach the first Wind Roses (Wind Turbines) in Turkey. The wind turbines that started generating electricity in 2000 constitute the third wind power station in Turkey. The energy generated here is 30 times more than the island’s consumption. There are 17 turbines which are equal to saving a forest of 1.400.000 trees. Only one turbine is enough to meet the energy needs of the island. Before the lunch break, you will drive to the South of Bozcaada passing through the beautiful bays with the view of endless Aegean Sea and you will reach Ayazma Monastery which is belonging to the Christian congregation. It consists of a small chapel under plane-trees, two small-structures, and a fountain with pipes. The Ayazma Festival takes place here between 25-27 July. After lunch, you will drive to the Eastern part of the Bozcaada and you will find the opportunity to take a photo under the breath-taking view of the Aquarium Cove. The cove is one of the professional deep-sea diving points on the island. The isle is already well known among wine connoisseurs for the award-winning Corvus wine produced from the native vineyards of the island. Today, you will be met by the experts to receive an enchanting tour of the establishments along with the vineyards and hear the exciting story of Corvus Winery. At the end of the day, you will be transferred back to your cruise ship.
