The Experience

What your day looks like

Welcome to our 7-Day Kilimanjaro Climb via the Machame Route! Enjoy the snow-covered slopes of Africa’s highest peak. The Machame Route has the nickname “Whiskey Route,” and despite the fact that it is relatively short, it is not easy to climb since it's quite strenuous, with many steep trails that require extra strength and physical conditioning to traverse. However, Machame is a very rewarding route, with spectacular scenery, including Lava Tower, Barranco Wall, and Shira Plateau, which is why this route is considered the most scenic one. The route starts at Machame Gate, passing through the beautiful rainforest, and heading west around Kibo. There are 6- and 7-day options to trek this route but note that the shorter option does not include an acclimatization day to help you adjust to the high-altitude conditions. Machame is also the route where you spend the nights in tents and requires a lot of strength to complete. The descent is at Mweka Gate.
