Your host, Chef Horta, can drive to your villa or vacation rental in San Juan, Dorado, Vega Baja, Canovanas, or Guaynabo, to offer a private meal or cooking class and meal experience. Chef Horta was born and raised on the West Coast and then moved to San Juan once he started working. He has been in the restaurant industry for 18 years and for the last 6 years he has worked as a private chef and kitchen consultant. His focus is to provide you with a restaurant-style experience in the comfort of your own home or vacation rental. Apart from cooking and serving you a delicious Puerto Rican meal, Chef Horta is excited to share his passion for creating art with local ingredients – making sure it doesn’t lose its natural color, and flavor and then beautifully presenting and plating it. You can expect an interactive and fun experience where you enjoy Chef Horta’s unique creations, using fresh, seasonal, and local produce. Some of the dishes you might try are alcapurrias (Puerto Rican fritters), mini mofongos (a Puerto Rican dish of mashed fried plantains with pork cracklings and garlic), Arroz Hampstead (Puerto Rican rice and stewed beans), mashed roots and flan and bread pudding, for dessert.
