As soon as your cruise ship arrives at Costa Maya Port, travel through history and let us guide you during your adventure in one of the least explored archeological sites in the Maya Zone and let yourself be surprised by the incredible monuments surrounded by jungle. During this tour of the Mayan city of Chacchoben, you will get to know the ancient residences of the nobles, the ancient ceremonial centers, walk through the jungle and admire the architecture of this great civilization while a certified guide explains in detail the history and secrets of this ancient city. Relive the passage of the Mayan priests and Mayan chiefs walking the steps to the top of the pyramids and let yourself be impressed by the immensity of the jungle from above. During your adventure, you will also learn about local plants, observe endemic birds, a large population of spider monkeys and listen to the legends that gave origin to this city. Meeting & Pickup
Cruise pier or 1211 Avenida Paseo del Puerto. Your tour departs from The Native Choice Kiosk at Plaza Las Fuentes, conveniently located just outside the Port of Costa Maya. It is the first building you will see once you pass the main security gate.

Everything described in this excursion was delivered. The instructions of where to find the shuttle and staff waiting for our group were very detailed and on point. Our guide, Diego and driver Abner were very hospitable and helpful. The guided tour through the Mayan ruins was great. I'd recommend bug repellent if your sensitive to the outdoors. We did spray repellent on our legs as most of us were wearing shorts. Although everyone in our group were fine, including a 10 and 12 year old girls. We'd recommend this excursion.

This tour was the highlight of our trip. We highly recommend this company and the Chaccchoben Mayan City Tour. We sailed on NCL but booked directly with Project Expedition instead and saved well over $100. When we arrived at The Native Choice office, just outside the Port, we were greeted immediately and quickly ushered into a waiting, air conditioned van. There were only 7 people in our van/group. Our tour guide, Erick, was extraordinarily knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. We didn't know how fortunate we were to be in such a small group, with such a knowledgeable guide until we saw large groups who had traveled on buses struggling to get close enough to hear their tour guide. If traveling to Costa Maya, this is a must do activity. Thank you Erick, Native Choice, and Project Expedition.
