Originally built in 1210 for the wealthy local Grace family and known as Grace's Castle, it also served as a prison before being converted into a courthouse. Your guide will introduce Kilkenny’s rich culinary heritage, shaped by centuries of trade, farming, and brewing. Parliament Street & Smithwick's Experience Kilkenny (Brewing Tradition) Near the meeting point on Parliament Street, discover Kilkenny’s long-standing relationship with beer and hospitality at the famous Smithwick's Experience Kilkenny, home to Ireland’s oldest ale. Enjoy sampling some of the city’s local brews as part of the tour. The Parade & Medieval Mile (Food Culture Walk) Stroll through The Parade, a lively central hub lined with cafés, markets, and artisan producers. Learn how modern Kilkenny blends traditional Irish flavours with contemporary food culture along the famous Medieval Mile. Meet traditional family-run businesses and passionate local entrepreneurs showcasing their delicious produce. Kilkenny Castle See the iconic Kilkenny Castle, the historic heart of the city and a medieval fortress located just a 9-minute walk from the meeting point.
