Mycenae, the kingdom of Agamemnon is a World Heritage UNESCO Site discovered by H. Schliemann. According to the epics of Homer, the expedition to Troy started from here. Mycenae was the capital of the ancient Mycenaean Civilization one of the oldest civilizations in the world and the kingdom of the well-known Agamemnon and it was at its peak from 1600 to 1100 BC. It was a military stronghold which dominated the biggest part of southern Greece and it was the most important and wealthiest center of the era. During this tour we will visit the archaeological site, you will see the Cyclopean Walls, the Lion’s Gate, the Royal Tombs and the Treasury of Atreus (Tomb of Agamemnon). Combining mythology, ancient temples, an ancient stadium and an incredible museum, Nemea is not to be missed. Taste victory with the goddess Nike by your side as you emerge through the crypt to the ancient stadium. Arguably Greece's most important red wine appellation located in the Peloponnese is Nemea. Our driver Peter was outstanding. But the sights in this tour, while informative and fun (especially the winery), were not as interesting as other tours we took. Wish we had spent another day in Athens proper.

Manos did a fabulous job of getting us to the wine country, pointing out places of interest & educating us on Greek history. We even made a last minute request to see an additional winery & Manos was able to accommodate. We enjoyed learning more about Greece wine making and it was nice to get away from the hustle & bustle of Athens for a day.
