Third Reich, Hitler & Cold War Berlin City Semi-Private Walking Tour
What your day looks like
Once the capital of Prussian kings, then the epicenter of Hitler’s Third Reich, and later a divided city at the heart of the Cold War, Berlin’s history is as turbulent as it is fascinating. Join us for a 3-hour guided tour through Berlin with a small group of no more than 12 visitors. Our expert guides will uncover Berlin’s past, from its Prussian palaces to the scars of World War II and the fall of the Berlin Wall. Explore Museum Island, where Prussian rulers built their cultural legacy, and admire the imposing Berlin Cathedral, once a symbol of imperial power. Trace the rise of the Nazi regime at the former Gestapo headquarters and reflect on the Holocaust at its unique memorial. Stand before Checkpoint Charlie, once the world’s most infamous border crossing, before concluding your visit at the Brandenburg Gate, a monument that has borne witness to a Napoleonic victory, Cold War standoffs, and finally, reunification. This tour offers an immersive journey through Berlin’s monuments, vestiges of war, and triumphs, uncovering the stories that shaped Germany’s capital. Whether you’re drawn to the city’s imperial past, wartime devastation, or Cold War intrigue, this experience provides an essential introduction to Berlin’s complex and compelling history. We had a wonderful tour with Jochen. The three hours flew by quickly and we left we the right amount of history and details learned about Berlin's history. Highly recommend!
Jochen provided the best tour I have been on. He was knowledgeable, patient, extremely communicative. We learned so much and n our 3 hrs, actually more like 3 1/2 hrs! Highly recommend! Will Not didappoint.
This was the best tour of our trip. Our tour guide (Nick) was outstanding. He brought along historical photos to show how Berlin has changed over the different periods of history. His ability to navigate history, tie in current events, and keep the tour engaging was second to none. I couldn't recommend it more.
