The Experience

What your day looks like

Begin your journey with a convenient pickup at a central meeting point in Bayeux. Before departure, your knowledgeable guide will introduce you to the Normandy region and outline the key sites featured in this half-day tour, dedicated to the most significant U.S. battlefield locations of D-Day. This experience is the perfect introduction for anyone with limited time who wants to understand this pivotal moment in history. Your first stop is the iconic Omaha Beach, one of the five landing areas of the Allied invasion. As you stand on the sand, your guide will bring to life the story of one of the boldest and most challenging operations of World War II. Omaha was the most heavily fortified of all the beaches, its bunkers and obstacles designed to repel any Allied attack. Next, travel a short distance to Pointe du Hoc, a dramatic cliffside position between Utah and Omaha Beaches. This site was a key target for U.S. forces on the morning of June 6, 1944. Here, Lt. Col. James E. Rudder and his 2nd Ranger Battalion scaled the 100-foot cliffs under heavy fire to disable the German defenses, followed by reinforcements from Lt. Col. Max F. Schneider’s 5th Ranger Battalion. Major renovation, improvement, and preservation works are currently taking place at Pointe du Hoc. While the site may remain partially accessible, access cannot be guaranteed. Should access be restricted, our guides will adapt the itinerary and include an alternative site such as Longues-sur-Mer battery, ensuring a meaningful and historically rich experience. Conclude your tour with a visit to the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer. Established on June 8, 1944, it was the first American cemetery on European soil during World War II. Take time to walk among the rows of white crosses, reflect on the sacrifice of those who fought, and visit the Visitor Center to gain deeper insight into the D-Day landings—one of history’s greatest military achievements. Afterward, you’ll return to Bayeux.

I went on this tour with my family, including our 3 children. It was incredible. Our tour guide, Matt, was one of the best tour guide we have ever had. The vehicle was clean and comfortable, the timing was spot on with the 3 locations we visited. My teenager said she wished we had done the full day option because it was so good.
