What travelers are saying
Excellent tour. We loved our guide!
If you like Medieval towns this is the place for you. We felt like we stepped back in time the minute we walked through the gates. There is something about being in a fortress that was built in 708 AD and continued being built way into the 13th century. Quite a marvel to see. Sadly we weren't able to climb the staircase up to the Abbey as my husband knees couldn't take that many stairs but it was still a worthwhile that place to go. We enjoyed having lunch and walking through the town. I saw pictures in a book of the Abbey and the same architectural style built by the Romans were there just like we had seen in Istanbul Basilica Cistern. The Romans had built that around the same time frame as well. Make you wonder how they were able to build such sculptured ceilings.
Long ride from Paris, but that was ok because it was a spectacular place to see and our guide was very informative and fun!
Good trip. The village is like stepping back in time. I should have researched it more to see how many steps there were because my husband has knee issues and couldn't climb up to the Abbey. We enjoyed the town however. Gave our tickets away to a local that could use them. It was worth going too even without going into the Abbey. For ladies, would recommend not warning wide leg pants. The stairs were built in 700's AD so they are tall steps and if it has been raining those steps are muddy. The front of your pants will end up with mud all over them as you take steps. Looked like people with skinny jeans didn't have that issue.
Clients had a wonderful time!
