You will visit Avebury - home to the world's largest stone circle, Stonehenge - the world's most famous stone circle and a prehistoric tomb that pre-dates both Stonehenge and Avebury. Your guide will explain about their history and will share their interesting stories and the latest discoveries.

Detailed Itinerary

The journey, in full

- You will be collected at 9am from your preferred pick-up point in Bath e.g. your accommodation and driven by private transport to Avebury. - With your guide you will explore the remains of this ancient stone circle which was built around 2600 BC. Unlike Stonehenge you are free to roam among the stones and touch them. Some people claim the stones hold great energy and it is not uncommon to see people meditating by the stones. Your guide will explain about the history of the site and the latest discoveries. - After exploring Avebury you will visit an ancient burial site built around 3600BC. It is possible to venture inside the tomb. From the tomb you can also see a prehistoric man-made hill. Archaeologists have no idea on why prehistoric man went to all the trouble in building it! - After lunch at a traditional English pub you will be driven to Stonehenge. - Your guide will take you around the Visitor Centre to explain the history of Stonehenge and how it was constructed. - You will then explore the ancient stone circle. Your guide will point out interesting features and share the latest discoveries with you. You will get close to the stones at Stonehenge but it is not possible to go inside the stone circle or to touch the stones. - There will be plenty of opportunities for photos before you are driven back to Bath.
