Private Canoe Experience at Río Frío & Caño Negro
What your day looks like
Just imagine clear water reflecting the vibrant canopy overhead, punctuated by the melodic calls of unseen birds. This is your introduction to Caño Negro, a hidden gem bursting with Costa Rica's incredible wildlife. Your experienced bilingual guide will lead you on a comfortable journey, first by bus to the San Emilio bridge by The Rio Frío, here your canoe waits for our river expedition, we begin our floating safari through Tropical Rain Forest and pastures until we arrive to Los Chiles shore, where the bus will pick us up to go for a very deserved lunch before the ride back to the hotels. Spot an array of incredible species, from the majestic Jabiru (Central America's largest bird) to playful spider monkeys swinging through the trees. Keep an eye out for a variety of threatened species, alongside resident and migratory birds like the prehistoric-looking Anhinga and the elegant Roseate Spoonbill. Witness a symphony of wildlife: Watch hundreds of resident birds, especially during the dry season. Look for the Anhinga (Snakebird), blue herons, Wood Storks, and the Olivaceous Cormorant, which nests in the area. The elusive Gaspar fish, a living fossil, might even make an appearance. Look for charismatic mammals and reptiles: Be on the lookout for white-faced monkeys, three-toed sloths, and keep an eye out for the camouflaged caimans basking on the riverbank. Let your guide's expertise enrich your experience as they unveil the secrets of this remarkable ecosystem and its fascinating inhabitants.
