What your day looks like
Prepare for an early morning pickup at your hotel to make the most of the day, and enjoy the passing scenery on the roughly 3-hour drive to reach the Blue River Resort & Hot Springs. When you arrive, sip a welcome cocktail at the spa and make use of the changing rooms to prepare for your eco hike. Escape to paradise among Costa Rica's famous natural beauty with this combo waterfall and hot springs adventure near Rincon de la Vieja volcano. Hike along the brilliant Blue River to sparkling tropical cascades, then reward your efforts with a delicious lunch. Discover the true meaning of ‘pura vida’ with an afternoon spent soaking in natural volcanic hot springs and mud baths, plus a stroll through botanical gardens teeming with butterflies, hummingbirds, etc.

Detailed Itinerary
The journey, in full
North of Rincon de la Vieja (the rain forest side), take a jungle walk, visit an amazing blue river, take dips into the Grand Waterfalls & view exotic plants and wildlife. 8:00 am: Approx pick-up from hotels in Liberia (to be confirmed) 10:00 am: Arrive for a welcome cocktail. Change clothing 10:30 am: Depart for a short drive and arrive at Grand Waterfalls for a dip in the pools. Set out on a nature walk into the tropical rainforest, before coming upon the out-of-this-world blue river, Pénjamo. 12:30 pm: Return to Blue River Resort to enjoy a delightful lunch à la carte. 1:30 pm: Time for natural mud bath and sauna, Botanical gardens, Butterfly Gardens 2:15 pm: Soak and swim 3 natural mineral "green" hot springs pools and 2 fresh water pools with a bullet water slide 4:00 pm: Return in time for dinner.

What to Bring
Bring comfortable clothing, insect repellent & hiking shoes (for the tour), bathing suit, sunscreen, rain jacket & extra clothing (in case of inclement weather conditions) There is a possibility of cancellation or change due to weather conditions at the site in which case we'll inform you as soon as possible. A refund will be offerred but if this occurs on route or when on site, an alternative will be offerred. A moderate amount of walking is involved (along paths created in forest and down dirt stairs) The duration of transfers are approximate, the exact duration will depend on the time of day and traffic conditions. Pick-up time and location will be communicated once we know where you are staying. Children must be accompanied by an adult Vegetarian option is available, please advise at time of booking if required
