Detailed Itinerary

The journey, in full

Your guide and driver will greet you in the lobby of your Beijing hotel to kick off your full-day itinerary. Embark on a journey to the iconic Mutianyu Great Wall—one of the most well-preserved sections of this ancient wonder. Upon arrival, ascend via cable car or ski lift to soak in awe-inspiring views of the winding Wall and picturesque northern hillsides stretching toward Mongolia. Originally built during the Northern Qi Dynasty and restored in the early Ming Dynasty, Mutianyu stands as a testament to China’s rich history and enduring strength. Led by your knowledgeable guide, explore ancient watchtowers while learning about the Wall’s fascinating military significance and architectural ingenuity. After exploring the Great Wall, feel free to ask your guide for recommendations on local specialties if you'd like to have lunch—meals are at your own expense. Then continue to the Ming Tombs, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site nestled at the foot of Tianshou Mountain. This sacred complex houses thirteen imperial tombs from the Ming Dynasty, and your visit will focus on Dingling—the most prominent and only fully excavated tomb. Built in 1590, Dingling is the final resting place of Emperor Shen Zong and his empresses, offering a rare glimpse into China’s imperial past. As you wander through the above-ground museum and underground palace, your guide will illuminate the secrets of imperial burial rituals and the priceless treasures unearthed here. At the end of the day, your guide and driver will chauffeur you back to your Beijing hotel, marking the perfect conclusion to your immersive journey through Beijing’s historical wonders.
