The journey, in full
Your private guide and driver will arrive at your hotel within the 4th Ring Road of Beijing in the morning, waiting to start your one-day itinerary. You will be transferred in the comfort of a private vehicle for a 1.5-hour drive to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China, a prestigious UNESCO World Heritage site. Upon arrival, a chair lift or cable car ticket will be provided for you to ascend the wall with ease. Take your time to admire this magnificent structure and its surrounding scenery—dense woods and lush pastures stretch northward toward Mongolia. Your personal guide will share fascinating insights into the Mutianyu Great Wall, including its original construction during the Northern Qi Dynasty (550–577) and subsequent restoration in the early Ming Dynasty (1368–1644). After exploring the Great Wall, you can choose to descend via cable car or take an exciting toboggan ride. Afterwards, enjoy a 40-minute drive to a local restaurant, where you will savor a delicious lunch featuring authentic Chinese cuisine. Next, head back to downtown Beijing and visit the Drum Tower. Here, you’ll have the chance to climb to the top for a bird’s-eye view of the city and watch a 20-minute traditional drumming performance. Then, embark on a rickshaw ride through the hutongs—narrow alleys steeped in Chinese history. As you pass by traditional gates and local shops, your guide will be on hand to answer any questions you may have and share interesting stories. Your guide and driver will take you back to your hotel to complete this one-day itinerary.
