Your private guide and driver will arrive at your hotel within the 4th Ring Road of Beijing in the morning, waiting to start your one-day tour. They will then drive you to Huangyaguan Great Wall by private vehicle, a journey taking approximately 3 hours. Along the way, you’ll enjoy charming countryside scenery, and your guide will share insights into the history of both the Great Wall and the Eastern Qing Tombs—feel free to ask any questions throughout the ride. Upon arriving at Huangyaguan Great Wall, you’ll hike at a leisurely pace, away from the crowds. You’ll spend around 1.5 hours exploring this section, which stretches 3 km (1.8 miles) and features 20 watchtowers, one pass fort, and one gatehouse, making it the longest renovated section of the Great Wall. Here, you can see stone bases dating back to the Northern Qi Dynasty (550 – 557) and brick battlements built in the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644), with watchtowers of varying shapes, both solid and hollow. After exploring the Great Wall, you’ll head to the Eastern Qing Tombs. En route, you’ll stop at a local village to savor a delicious Chinese lunch. The Eastern Qing Tombs are a magnificent imperial mausoleum complex of the Qing Dynasty, standing as China’s largest, most complete, and best-preserved extant mausoleum site. It is the final resting place of five Qing emperors, 15 empresses, 136 imperial concubines, three princes, and two princesses. You’ll spend about 2 hours exploring the Eastern Qing Tombs before heading back. Your guide and driver will take you back to your hotel to complete this one-day tour.
