You will then be transferred to Siem Reap City, and along the way, your guide will share useful information about the city’s history, culture, and the daily life of the Khmer people. Day 2: Full-Day Exploration of Angkor Thom, Jungle Temples & Angkor Wat Sunset On the morning after breakfast at the hotel, your tour guide and driver will pick you up from the lobby and transfer you to explore the Angkor Temples Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Wonders of the World. Begin your journey at the majestic South Gate of Angkor Thom, the last capital city of the Khmer Empire. In the 12th century, Angkor Thom was the largest city in the world, home to nearly one million inhabitants. Entering through its monumental gate, you will be greeted by impressive stone carvings and guardian statues representing ancient Khmer cosmology. Continue to the magnificent Bayon Temple, world-famous for its 54 towers, each adorned with four serene smiling faces.
