Day 4

Siem Reap

Boating at Tonlé Sap Lake. Day 3: Kampong Phluk Floating Village & Tonle Sap Lake Cruise - Journey from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh After breakfast at your hotel, meet your English-speaking tour guide and driver in the hotel lobby to begin your journey to the floating village of Kampong Phluk and the Tonle Sap Lake, one of Cambodia’s most fascinating natural wonders. Start your day with a visit to Tonle Sap Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Board a private boat for a memorable cruise through the floating villages, where life moves with the rhythm of the water. Observe how local communities live in floating houses, bamboo rafts, and boats, adapting to the lake’s seasonal rise and fall. Experience the authenticity of rural Cambodian life as you pass by floating markets, schools, and temples, all part of a self-sustaining ecosystem on the water. Your guide will explain the lake’s unique hydrological phenomenon, where during the monsoon season, water from the Mekong River reverses its flow and fills the lake, expanding its surface area dramatically. When the high season arrives, the flow reverses again, and the lake drains back into the river, making Tonle Sap one of the only lakes in the world with such a natural flow reversal. After the boat tour, return to your hotel in Siem Reap to check out and enjoy some free time before your transfer. In the afternoon at 2:00 PM, take a private transfer with your English-speaking driver from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, a scenic drive that takes you through Cambodia’s picturesque countryside, rural villages, and lush rice fields. Arrive in Phnom Penh in the late afternoon and check in at your hotel. Spend the evening at leisure, relaxing or exploring the city’s riverside nightlife at your own pace. Overnight in Phnom Penh.
