Altun Ha Mayan Ruins & Belize City Tour

What your day looks like

This tour starts off with a drive through the main streets of Belize City, passing various important monuments and buildings. These provide for photo opportunities while your tour guide gives you the Belizean history behind these monuments and buildings. Then we travel a little over 30 miles away from Belize City on the Phillip Goldson Highway, formerly known as the Northern Highway as we make our way to the Altun Ha Maya Ruins. These ruins were once a trading center in this region, and are where one of Belize's national treasures was found, the Jade Head. This is a massive jade mask of mask of the Mayan god of the sun, Kinich Ahau. ​During the tour of this Maya ruin, you'll get to walk down the same path the Mayas did while learning about their customs while they inhabited the site. The best photo opportunities on this tour come after hiking to the tops of the highest structures where the Mayan elite once occupied. The view from atop is beautiful and offers a panoramic view of this Mayan site as well as the surrounding prisitine jungle.
