The Experience

What your day looks like

Darwin Experience: Paddle the Explorers' River Would you dare to paddle the same river explored by Darwin nearly 200 years ago? In the vastness of Patagonia, where the wind rules the silence and history hides in every stone, an adventure of landscapes and deep connection with nature awaits. During this expedition, you’ll kayak a stretch of the legendary Santa Cruz River in a tandem kayak, led by expert guides, surrounded by ancient geological formations, open skies, and wildlife that will surprise you when you least expect it. And after the effort, a homemade lunch at a remote estancia (ranch) awaits… the perfect finale to an unforgettable day. Why Choose This Experience? Kayak Among Geological Giants: Paddle 15 km along one of Patagonia’s most iconic rivers, a journey blending physical challenge, breathtaking scenery, and beauty no photo can capture. Historical Route: This is the same river navigated by Charles Darwin and Fitz Roy during their Patagonian expedition. Today, you retrace their path but with everything taken care of. Lunch at a Remote Estancia: Enjoy focaccia, provoleta (grilled provolone), Argentine steak, and chocolate mousse. After paddling, your body will crave flavor! 4x4 Transfers Included: 40 km to the river and 65 km back to El Calafate in rugged Patagonia-ready vehicles. Limited Spots for Safety & Quality Only 16 people per departure, ensuring personalized attention and an authentic experience.
