5:58 1 584 Hanoi Urban Adventures We enjoyed our tour of the city of Hanoi with our knowledgeable guide, An. It was great having a driver who got us safely through each location. We started with the Temple of Literature which was built in honor of Confucius in 1970. It became a University accepting students from the aristocracy society in 1076. We continued our tour visiting a traditional tea house where we heard about the importance of tea to the Vietnam Culture. We had delicious Lotus Flower Tea with traditional Green Bean Cake. We stopped at the infamous "Hanoi Hilton " '. This place holds a dark place in history first as prison used by the French to imprison Vietnamese people and later used by the Vietnam soldiers to imprison American Prisoners of War. We then visited the beautiful Ngoc Son Temple located at the beautiful Hoan Kiem Lake. Our guide, An made this experience even more special by sharing stories and traditions from that era. stopped at Pho Thin a local lunch favorite where we ate a delicious bowl of Pho and Chinese Donuts. Afterwards we walked to the beautiful St. Joseph Cathedral where we said goodbye to our energetic, professional and personable guide, An.
