Visit Hoan Kiem Lake, the symbolic heart of the capital, explore the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum complex, and discover the Temple of Literature, Vietnam's first university and a remarkable example of 11th-century Vietnamese architecture. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before walking around the charming Hanoi Old Quarter to explore the fantastic maze off the back streets. Then walk to bustling Nha Chung street, where every day is always busy with food and vegetable sellers. Stop at the old French house for a cup of tea and a chat with the host. Discover more about the change in the local people's life and listen to the story of his family in each period. Then step into the home of Mr. Liem, a passionate seventh-generation puppet maker, and performer. He is the creator of the mobile theater and new puppet designs. Visit his humble home and listen to his story to understand his passion for this unique and traditional art. Then, have a private show in his small theatre and learn the basic techniques of using bamboo rods to move puppets through the water.
