The journey, in full
As you near Zion, you will begin to witness a few of the distinctive landscapes found in this unique geological landscape. Towering mountains and volcanic cinder cones overshadow the distinct red sandstone cliffs that cover this landscape. Lava flows cap the sandstone ridges and provide a unique contrast against the brilliant flaming colors that greet your eyes at every turn. As you enter the park, you will be surrounded by towering cliffs reaching over 3000+ ft (1000+ m) into the air. These are the tallest sandstone cliffs in the world. As you explore the park, you will continue to be in awe of the full colors and grandeur of these cliffs. Flaming reds, brilliant whites, and subtle yellows accented by water stains and desert varnish. These hues are ever-changing throughout the day as the sun and clouds highlight and diminish each other's prominence and stature before your eyes. There will be hiking opportunities on several of Zion's famous trails. This includes Emerald Pools, Weeping Wall, The Narrows (Temple of Sinawava and the Riverwalk trail), Canyon Overlook, Scouts Lookout on Angels Landing, or the beginner Pa'rus Trail. For the photographers, you will have the opportunity to explore the park and capture it from its many viewpoints below and above the canyon rim. For those wanting to just relax and see the beauties of nature, you will have plenty of opportunities to sit and listen to the sounds of nature and watch it continue to evolve around you under the shade of the many cottonwood trees that cover the canyon landscape. A box lunch will be provided to enable you to explore as much of the park as possible. There are many picnic areas within the canyon, or you can enjoy eating while trekking along the trails. Water and snacks, including fruits, will be available as we travel to and from the park. Your guide will provide you with facts and information about the history of the park, its geology, plant science, and a few of the animals that call Zion home. Lunch Included. As you return home at the end of the day, you will be able to relax and discuss your adventures in your comfortable chairs in our tour vehicles. You will be dropped off at your hotel between 6:00 and 6:30 pm in the evening.
