Our most popular excursion includes a 28-mile train journey (1.75 hours) between Skagway, Alaska and Fraser, British Columbia aboard the "Scenic Railway of the World" and a spectacular bus journey through the northern corner of British Columbia and into the Yukon Territory as far north as Emerald Lake!! Experience the breathtaking panorama of mountains, glaciers, gorges, waterfalls, tunnels, trestles, historic sites and beautiful lakes while traveling through the most amazing scenery our area has to offer. Historical Train Information: Built-in 1898 during the Klondike Gold Rush, this Scenic Railway of the World was designated as an International Historic Civil Engineering Landmark (along with the Eiffel Tower and Statue of Liberty). The 3-foot wide Narrow Gauge Railroad climbs almost 3,000 feet in the first 20 miles with an average grade of 2.6%, and up to 3.9% in some locations. It also passes through 2 tunnels and travels over sky-high trestles and bridges. Comfortable restored and replica passenger coaches are pulled by vintage diesel locomotives. Each heated passenger coach has large viewing windows and a restroom. Please note: This is a seasonal tour running from May through September only. Don't miss this amazing opportunity to see some of the most beautiful scenery that our area has to offer! Your train journey will be aboard a passenger parlor car on the famous White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad. You will be entertained with narrated commentary so as not to miss out on all of the historic points of interest along the Trail of 98. The bus portion of this excursion is not to be missed as your experienced tour guide entertains you while you travel on the Klondike Highway making stops along the way so that guests can take in the natural beauty of our area and have ample opportunities for those memorable photos. We also stop at Caribou Crossing Trading Post where a BBQ chicken lunch with coleslaw, baked potato, homemade roll and all-you-can-eat cake donuts awaits you as well as “FREE ADMISSION” to the Yukon Wildlife Museum, Royal Canadian Mounted Police Museum and the Husky Puppy Camp! Dogcart rides can be purchased separately upon arrival at the lunch facility if seating is still available. Upon your return to Skagway you will be entertained by professional guides with their amusing stories of local lore and captivating tales of the Gold Rush Era. Complimentary drop off service is provided in town or at the cruise ship docks upon the conclusion of your tour. This tour operates in reverse order with a bus first option except on Sundays.

What to know before booking
Restrictions
Smoking is prohibited on train and tour vehicles. Our vehicles are not wheelchair accessible and we are not able to accommodate motorized or electric scooters of ANY kind. However, for passengers who have small, collapsible walkers we are happy to assist in boarding and storing them on our bus if we have room and they do not exceed these measurements: 30″L x 10″W x 30″H (including wheels). If we do not have room, the walker may have to be left behind by a company representative and delivered to the guest at the conclusion of the tour.
Meeting & Pickup
All tour departures start from each and every cruise ship dock in Skagway. We also drop our guests back at the pier at the conclusion of the tour. We do not pick up or drop off in Haines for any of our tours.

We loved our Yukon Rail & Bus excursion. Our bus driver and guide Lisa was awesome. Very interesting. A good lunch and a bunch of fun stops. The bus portion was a lot longer than the train portion but we really enjoyed it. Train part was really great too.

Overall this was a great excursion for our group that ranged in age from 2-78 years old. The kids loved the train ride and all that we got to see out the windows. Our guide for the bus portion was knowledgeable and we learned so much. The lunch stop was a bit touristy but understandable considering the location and how many tourists go through this area. The food at that stop was average, and if you have picky eaters, we would recommend bringing snacks. One of our stops after lunch did provide more food options which we were grateful for. We did get to see a bear in the wild which was also a highlight. It is a long tour and will fill most of your time in Skagway but you get a lot for the price.
