Discover the rich history and drama of the capital city. Once a marshy, forested riverbank, D.C. has borne witness to strife and conflict, invasion and renewal, and rare, precious moments of camaraderie. We’ll share all these tales and more as we explore the most iconic sites of Washington. We’ll start out by the White House Visitor Center. You can park and explore, or just hear the stories as you drive by. This is the best route to see all the famous sites - marvel at the grandeur of the United States Capitol, explore the treasures housed in the Library of Congress, and glimpse the marble columns of the Supreme Court of the United States. You’ll get a chance to see the Washington Monument up close and personal as we stop by the Mall. And don’t forget about the White House! Do you know the tale of the missing capstone? Well, you will soon. After driving through the historic Georgetown neighborhood- and hearing the tales of the Blues born there - you’ll cross the Potomac and explore the Civil War history at this uneasy border between national capital and Confederate stronghold. Pay your respects to the nation’s heroes at Arlington National Cemetery, then drive past the Pentagon, the brain behind the most powerful military on Earth. As we loop back into the city proper, you’ll discover hidden gems like East Potomac Park, where you can play a game of mini golf or just take in the view of the monuments. You’ll hear the story behind the Tidal Basin’s famous cherry trees - along with how those trees almost prevented the Jefferson Memorial from being built! Don’t worry - you’ll get to see Mr. Jefferson’s memorial, along with the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. Back along the city streets, I’ll guide you to the National Gallery of Art and the National Portrait Gallery. Finally, you’ll get to hear some of the surprising details of the night Lincoln was assassinated as we pass Ford’s Theater.
