From the lava lake under Halema’uma’u’s crust to walking the path of lava we walk the timeline of the newest growth of Hawaii Island. As we descend back to our point of origin, we stop for a taste of Hawaii at the popular Big island candies.

Our guide pointed out lots of points of interest in the park like the steam vents enjoyed by Mark Twain. He also was knowledgeable about prior eruptions and how they contributed to the shape and colorations of the crater’s floor.
