Start by downloading the Action Tour Guide app, which will function as your personal tour guide, audio tour, and map all in one. Once downloaded, your Grand Canyon tour begins near the park’s south welcome sign. You’ll also have the option to enter from the east entrance. From the main entrance, you’ll hear about the early history of the park before arriving at Mather Point—your first good look at the canyon! Next, you’ll proceed to Yavapai Point and the Yavapai Geology Museum, full of facts about the canyon’s geology. From there, you’ll just follow the path! Along the way, you’ll hear about the early days of the Colorado River, when it was just a meandering river on a floodplain. As you walk, you’ll learn how that floodplain became a soaring plateau, and how that event created Horseshoe Bend. You’ll also get details about how this land passed from the Navajo to the USA. Finally, you’ll arrive at Horseshoe Bend, where viewing platforms offer jaw-dropping views of the landmark. Don’t forget to take plenty of pictures!
