What your day looks like
Embark on a journey to explore the coastal towns of Salem and Cape Ann on the historic and picturesque North Shore of Massachusetts. Spend a day immersing yourself along Massachusetts’s stunning, rugged coastline marked with idyllic seaside towns. Dotted with lighthouses and old wooden, shiplap homes, Cape Ann is one of the most picture-perfect experiences of the Northeast. On your private day trip, you will have the chance to explore several of the historic fishing towns and learn about the way the fishing industry shaped the history of the nation. Visit Gloucester –known for its commercial fishing industry, and visit Manchester-by-the-Sea for a quieter pace, made famous by the eponymous film. Hear about the formation of the US Navy in Marblehead, and visit Salem, where you’ll have the chance to explore one of the town’s many museums devoted to the Salem Witch Trials. At the end of the day, your guide will drive you back to Boston, where you can arrange to be dropped back off at your hotel or at somewhere central in the city.

Attractions along this route: Cape Ann: Named for King Charles I' mother, the cold water cape located 30 minutes outside Boston has numerous rocky beaches and small towns. Rockport: Located at the tip of Cape Anne, the quaint town is known for its seaside charm, delightful dining options, and locally-owned shops. Salem: Most famous in history for the Salem Witch trials in the late 17th century, the city is still full of references to the historic event and is a cultural reference point in films, literature, and tv shows. Marblehead: Marblehead lays claim to being home to the US navy and birthplace of Marine Naval Aviation. For locals and travelers, it's a great spot to head to see for plenty of water activities. Gloucester Fisherman memorial: Built as a dedication to the many fishermen from Gloucester who have lost their lives at sea over the centuries, and was built in 1925. Gloucester: Known predominantly for its fishing heritage and industry, Gloucester is one of America's oldest seaports. Manchester by the Sea: Widely known by the eponymous, Oscar-winning movie, the town exudes a quiet atmosphere, as compared to other seaports in Cape Ann.
