The Experience
What your day looks like
Our tours are 3 hours long and leave from the docks in Hoonah. Our tour goes beyond a boat ride. We’ll pick you up and drop you off as well as serve you coffee and snacks. We will work to make your experience memorable. Each tour on our 38-foot catamaran, is unique. We offer a small-group experience and take no more than 14 passengers. The knowledge of Captain Jordan Savland ensures you will see whales. Our tour leaves from Hoonah, Alaska, and will extend as far as Pleasant Island (16 miles, 25km) to find whales. Along the way, we will see a variety of marine life such as seals, sea otters, sea lions, and marine birds. We may even see brown bears.

What to know before booking
What to Bring
Depending on the weather, you may want to bring warmer clothes, like a sweatshirt and possibly a light rain jacket. The boat will be heated and there is an overhang around the outside to help keep you warm and dry. If you have binoculars you may also want to bring them. We will have a couple of pairs on the boat for passenger use. We will provide a light snack and beverages. If you think you’ll want more than that please bring your own food

I have been on several whale watching excursions in the past, and this one was hands down the best experience I’ve ever had. Our captain, Jordan, shared so much information about whales and answered all our questions. His boat was very comfortable, and he even had hot drinks and snacks. He seemed as excited as we were, especially when we were lucky enough to see a triple breech. I highly recommend this excursion.

Our whale watching tour was one of the absolute highlights of our Alaska trip! The crew was incredibly friendly, and genuinely passionate about marine life. They worked hard to make sure everyone had a great view while sharing interesting facts about the whales and the surrounding wildlife. We were lucky enough to see multiple humpback whales, including some incredible breaches and tail slaps, as well as sea lions, and bald eagles. The scenery alone was breathtaking, but seeing these animals in their natural habitat made the experience unforgettable. The boat was comfortable, well-organized, and never felt overcrowded. You could tell the crew truly cared about both the guests and protecting the wildlife. If you’re visiting Alaska, don’t miss this tour.

Wonderful people, lovely and clean catamaran. Having a maximum of 14 passengers made for some great photos, as it was never overcrowded. Highly recommend!

Tour was great and staff was very friendly and helpful in getting us as close as possible to the whales! The only issue for us was in order to get to the meeting spot you don't take the Gondola marked Gondola. You need to take the one marked Transporter. We came very close to missing our excursion due to taking the wrong one at 1st.

It was a wonderful tour. The Captain (owner) as always informing us what to look for and he was in contact with other boats on what they were seeing. We enjoyed the small group. He had a small new boat and it was nice held about 14. Liked having a small group because you could always see. It was a family run operation that worked very hard to make you comfortable. Captain grew up in the area and was a great teacher.

We had an amazing day whale watching. The Catamaran was brand new, Joardan was a good guide and knew where to find the whales. We saw orcas, humpbacks, sea lions and sea otters. Highly recommend!

Trip was exceptional. The accommodations were excellent and the tour guides were very knowledgeable and did a great job. Would definitely take this trip again with them.
