Our tour begins in Deep Ellum, Dallas' most culturally significant neighborhood, filled with vibrant street murals and entertainment venues. We'll stop in several of its best restaurants for tastes of iconic Southern fare. Founded as a haven for freed slaves and Eastern European immigrants, the neighborhood developed into a cultural center best known as one of the birthplaces of the Blues. You'll walk past corners where blues legends like Lead Belly would busk between gigs, as well as a meat market that has been serving the community since 1895. In 1914, Henry Ford chose this area for his early automobile plant where the Model T was born and has now become a music venue called The Bomb Factory. Its close proximity to both Uptown and Downtown makes it easy to reach and it's connected to two DART Rail stations. On Food Tours: Dallas you will try the city's most renowned food as well as the local favorites giving you the best Dallas has to offer. -We'll meet under the awning of The Emporium on Main Street. -You'll taste our local cuisine heavily influenced by our Mexican and Native American roots, beginning with the quintessential Texas bite, BBQ smoked brisket as well as an incredible fried chicken biscuit. -After a couple of great bites, we'll walk down a block that's home to a butcher and sausage maker who has been there since 1895 and a local cheese maker next door. -We'll learn about the local history and stories as well as the iconic Tex-Mex queso and its origins. -Our Secret dish! -Finally, we'll finish up with the city's best sweet treat: a taste of our bourbon pecan pie.
