The tour starts at the oldest church in the US, and. you'll hear the story of New Spain and how the Spanish ruled this land for hundreds of years. The Loretta chapel is well known for its miracle staircase which many consider to be a miracle. Of the many reasons, the wood that was used to build it has never been identified on earth. Learn the story of the staircase and the La Fonda Hotel. It's one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the area, and it also holds a secret in its door. You'll learn the story of the cathedral. This simple shop was once the launching pad for the Manhattan Project, you'll learn its atomic story. We will walk outside the Palace of the Governors and learn its historical story, including the author that wrote Ben Hur and the time Billy the Kid roamed the streets. Inside you’ll find 20,000 works of art by well-known artists including the epic photographer Ansel Adams, the great woodblock printmaker and painter Gustave Baumann, the amazing painter Georgia Okeefe, and the Taos Society of Artists, to name a few. You’ll also find works of the Los Cinco Pintores, translated into English as The Five Painters. Santa Fe gets about 32 inches of snow a year, and its winters are cold. So how did they get firewood in this old adobe town? Burros carried in wood from lands far away and when they arrived in Santa Fe, they stopped here in Burrow Alley to sell it. Hence the name Burro Alley. You'll learn about Burro Alley and also see the Jail the Billy the Kid was locked in. She is known as the “Mother of American Modernism" and a celebrity here in Santa Fe. You'll learn her story and see the outside of the Museum. You'll get a chance to see the local community gallery with up-and-coming artists, it's free.
