The Experience

What your day looks like

Experience America’s original national park without the hassles or uncertainties of navigating the wilderness alone. This private, 12-hour journey is designed for those who want to step off the beaten path and explore the world’s first national park on foot, guided by local experts who handle the logistics, safety, and storytelling. Our day begins at dawn, catching the first light on the Teton Mountains as we transit through Grand Teton National Park toward the Yellowstone boundary. While we keep a keen eye out for morning wildlife along the way, the true adventure begins once we enter the Yellowstone caldera. Whether you are looking for a gentle stroll past hidden geysers or a strenuous summit with panoramic views, we select the perfect trail based on your preferences, fitness level, and current park conditions.

Detailed Itinerary

The journey, in full

Sunrise Pickup & Scenic Transit: Your guide collects you from Jackson or Teton Village in a private vehicle stocked with optics, snacks, and drinks. The drive north through Grand Teton is a spectacular wildlife corridor in its own right. The Yellowstone Supervolcano: Cross the South Entrance and enter the vast elevated plateau. Your guide will explain the fascinating geology of the 45-mile-wide caldera and the massive eruption that reshaped the continent. Geothermal Exploration: Encounter your first thermal features at West Thumb on the shores of Yellowstone Lake before heading toward your customized trailhead. The Guided Hike: Based on your choice (West Side geyser basins and waterfalls or East Side canyon rims and peaks), you'll head into the backcountry. Your guide carries the bear spray and ensures you stay safely on solid ground in thermal areas. Iconic Sightseeing: Depending on your route, visit the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, witness Old Faithful erupt, or marvel at the vivid rings of Grand Prismatic Spring. Hayden Valley Wildlife: Slow down to scan the rolling hills of Hayden Valley, the premier destination for spotting bison herds, coyotes, grizzlies, and the Wapiti Lake wolf pack. Golden Hour Return: Enjoy the late afternoon light as we head south through the Tetons. We’ll take the Inner Park Road if time permits to maximize our final chances for moose and bear sightings. Arrival & Local Tips: Return to your hotel with a collection of professional photos and videos shared by your guide, along with personalized recommendations for the rest of your Wyoming stay.
