What your day looks like
Explore the Seven Sea Caves and kayak through three of the four microhabitats present in the La Jolla Ecological Reserve. You’ll watch sea lions sunbathing on the rocks and swimming in the sanctuary. Bright orange garibaldi standout among the vibrant green sea grass and numerous other fish swim around delighting the eye. You might even see dolphins cruising alongside your kayak before you make your way back and prepare to surf your kayak back to shore. Memorable experiences await you. Entry into Emerald Cave depends upon the safety of the conditions and is just one small part of this amazing tour. Regardless of entering or not, you'll have a great time.!

Detailed Itinerary
The journey, in full
We ask all guests arrive 30 minutes prior to their reservation time for check in. Our staff will outfit each guest with the proper safety equipment. Everyone will be in a double kayak. Once the groups are ready, we walk down to the beach (2-3 minute walk) in which our guides will provide instructions on best practices as well as a safety instruction, and an overview of tour. After the tutorial / refresher course, the group hits the water, and explores the La Jolla Ecological Reserve. We will cover three of the four micro-habitats in which our certified trained guides will try to point out the local marine life. Guests, typically see a variety of fish, Sea Lions, Garibaldi, Harbor Seals, Dolphin, and depending on the time of the year may even sea migrating Gray Whales! On the southern part of the reserve, lie the seven sea caves of La Jolla. Depending on conditions / safety guests will be able to check out the caves, and may even be able to enter Emerald Cave (not guaranteed, and depends of safety.) After 90 minutes the tour will return to the beach, and customers will head back to the shop. No tour is ever the same, which makes our guided tours a memorable experience. What to Bring
We recommend bringing as little as possible. Feel free to bring a water bottle or a waterproof camera. Do not bring anything that should not get wet. We have an expression at the shop, “If you love it, leave it.” We recommend wearing beach attire: a swimsuit / bathing suit, a t-shirt, ( Depending on the temperature of the water and how much wind is present, we highly recommend a wetsuit. Bring your own if you have one or you can rent one from us for $11. We have lockers available for rent. (They’re $5.) If you don’t want to rent a locker we recommend keeping your valuables in your car.
Restrictions
Everyone will be in a double kayak. The city of San Diego, and the San Diego lifeguards, set the age requirement at 5 years old and older. The weight limit for each kayak is 425lbs/193kg.

The tour was beautiful and the guides were informative. The waters were choppy and a few of the guests had to end the tour early due to sea sickness. We would have appreciated a heads up from the tour company prior to heading out on the water.

Beautiful place to kayak. Lots of wildlife. Our guides (Spencer and Rachel) shared information about the microbiomes of La Jolla cove as we paddled to the caves. It was really neat to go into a cave in a kayak. The cave can only be entered with a guide. Highly recommend Everyday California.

So fun! It was a windy day when we went kayaking, but the beach guides were awesome and helped us get out and around safely! We especially loved the wetsuit rentals for $10 because it was a chilly day!
