The Experience

What your day looks like

See the wonder and marvel at one of Alaska’s most accessible glaciers by foot with NOVA’s popular Matanuska Glacier Adventure Trek. This half-day adventure is one of the longest, most intense days we offer on the glacier and requires a certain level of physical capabilities. To make the most of this experience, each participant must be able to hike at least 6+ miles, handle light rappelling, and be comfortable navigating challenging, uneven terrain & steep inclines. This adventure takes hikers out beyond the main terminus ‘Ice Falls’ area to the heart of the Matanuska Glacier and beyond the more frequented areas. Traveling back through the frozen ancient world of ice, exploring out where the more unique features are located and harder to access. The Adventure Trek is highly tailored with a guide-to-client ratio of 1:4 and customized by our professional guides to the group’s physical abilities and desires.
